Reed Gift Fairs recently caught up with Splosh to get their insights on the top Mother’s Day gifts for 2018 and how they planned their collection. They shared their mantra and vision with us – “To create a product that gives and inspires – spreading optimism into the lives of everyday people, every day.”
They started at the local markets with hand-made gifts in 1999 and today, they are the leader and innovator in the home & giftware industry with international distribution and over 3,000 stockists in Australia and New Zealand.
What are your top Mother’s Day gifts for 2018?
We’re lucky enough to have a wide range of Mum related gifts all year round, however our top Mother’s Day gifts would have to be from our new Mother’s Day collection. Can you give us tips on how we can use social media to create buzz and excitement about Mother’s Day?
Our top tips to create buzz and excitement around Mother’s Day would be the following:
- Use behind the scenes/ sneak peek elements: We have kept our Mother’s Day range quite secretive before its launch however it was fun to upload insta-stories from the campaign photo shoot and build up a hype around the collection.
- Include personal stories: We are lucky enough to have our very own Mother, Daughter team at the helm of Splosh! Creator and Head Designer, Kim and her daughter and General Manager Laura work closely together every day. It was fun to include them in our insta-stories and Instagram posts with their top gift ideas as it was both relevant and gave our community an insight into our brand.
- Know your audience: Social has quickly become one of the first places that people now turn to for inspiration and ideas. With so much content out there it’s important that you know what your community likes and wants to see. Make sure you showcase a variety of gift ideas in a meaningful and unique way that is relevant to your community. If you get it right, they’ll keep coming back for more!
Splosh has a lot of products to choose from – what factors do you consider in choosing your Mother’s Day collection?
You’re not wrong there and sometimes it can be daunting going into a seasonal collection with so many great design ideas being thrown around by the team. We go back to basics and look at what trending themes are emerging and how we can integrate our top selling product into that theme, with a twist.
We also strive to stay unique and not produce the same collection twice so we’re always coming up with new and fresh product ideas. A great example of this is our Mother’s Day mug collection with its unique ready-to-gift bag. We’re also lucky enough to have a lot of mum related products, especially verses and hanging signs, included in our homewares and inspirational collections such as Botanical, Wild, Bohemian Blue and Women We Love so there’s a lot of different looks to choose from depending on personal style.
Which products/collection are you particularly excited about exhibiting at Reed Gift Fairs in Melbourne this August?
We’re extremely excited for the Reed Gift Fairs this August. We have been busy working on 11 new collections across homewares, inspiration, celebration, novelty and pets and can’t wait to launch them to our customers at the fair. Add to that 8 new WoodWick Candles and the Yankee Candle range… it’s going to be one hell of a launch!
What’s next for Splosh?
With over 20 new collections plus seasonal ranges designed in-house every year, there’s never a dull moment here at Splosh. Kim and the design team are constantly travelling the globe seeking out inspiration to create our own unique product innovations and collections each season. At the same time, we’re investing in our team to make sure that we continue to provide our customers with unique products, first to market with the same exceptional customer service that they’ve come to expect.
