One of 2016’s hottest interior trends that is perfectly suited for some winter redecorating is the tribal trend. With an emphasis on dark colours, natural fibres and ethnic patterns, tribal-themed pieces bring a sense of warmth and culture to the home.

We use the term ‘trend’ loosely here, because the truth is that tribal themed décor has been around forever; its longevity a testament to its ability to work in a number of settings and withstand other fads that simply fade away.

Tribal décor pieces can create a lovely, eclectic vibe as they complement a myriad of other styles. Tribal interiors work well when paired with neutrals, used with a folksy interior design, against a monochrome setting, or even against a jungle-themed backdrop.

That being said, why not grab a hot cuppa, cosy up by the fire and enjoy clicking through some of our top interior tribal picks. You’ll be dreaming of an African safari in no time!

Jackie Brown’s use of this rug as a backdrop is pure genius! A great alternative to using traditional pieces of artwork. Photo taken by Brett Stephens for Real Living Magazine.

My name is Domenica, but my tribe call me Dom. I’ve written for a number of successful and popular Australian blogs, and I have experience working in both education and the media. I have a slight (ahem) shopping addiction, but I prefer to think of it as an ethical contribution to the growth of the economy. I am fuelled by a love of art, photography, home interiors, trashy television and my family (not in that order).
